Sydney E. Fontanilla
Ms. Fontanilla primarily represents clients relating to first- and third-party auto insurance, premises liability, landlord-tenant, and general civil litigation. She has appeared before state trial courts and bankruptcy courts.
Prior to joining Wheeler Upham, Ms. Fontanilla focused her practice of law primarily on landlord-tenant, creditors’ rights in bankruptcy, general civil litigation, and fair housing defense.
Ms. Fontanilla attended Grand Valley State University, where she earned a B.S. in psychology with a minor in criminal justice. As an undergraduate, she was an active member of hersorority, Alpha Sigma Tau, and held multiple leadership roles.
Ms. Fontanilla graduated from the University of Detroit Mercy School of Law in May, 2022. During her time as a law student she worked for the Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office in the Child Abuse and Domestic Violence Units. She also worked as a student clinician for the William Booth Legal Aid Clinic, where she assisted clients in family law matters and earned a book award for her advocacy skills there.
Outside of her practice of law, Ms. Fontanilla enjoys reading and spending time with her husband, son, and two dogs. She continues to volunteer as an alumni advisor with Alpha Sigma Tau at Grand Valley State University.
